I'm trying to get good at French, I've read a few french books in the past few years and I feel pretty satisfied with myself. Then I run across a phrase/paragraph like this and I'm really humbled. I don't think I'll ever reach the same fluency as English. WTF Dumas?

Such a big contrast between Cook and the Trump revelations from his NY fraud trial: he would give one valuation to the bank and another to the state for tax purposes. And him and his lawyers cried to everyone that would listen that this paperwork stuff doesn't matter and the lenders didn't lose $.

I think an important piece of context is the original series of Miami Herald stories that suggest it all started with one of the girls' parents going to the police.

When Trump said the part I screenshot, at 10:21 in the video, Cyril Ramaphosa should have said "Excuse me, excuse me. I think there's blame on both sides. Two days after Nicușor Dan was elected president the US Embassy in Bucharest got around to posting something. They didn't congratulate him or the Romanian people. They didn't use any honorifics like "Mr." or "President elect". They just "look forward". (1/2)

One interesting tidbit is how Viktor Orban lost here. Despite Simion's xenophobic rhetoric, Orban tacitly endorsed him. Usually Orban and Hungarians in Romania are close but in this election they voted around 90% for the pro-EU candidate. The HR and CV counties here are majority Hungarian.

The EU has worked on a trade agreement with South America for DECADES and it's still not in effect. And, BTW, the US economy is 5 times larger than MERCOSUR's. 90 deals in 90 days my ass.
