I think may things come across as hysterical when they reach Europe. In most of Europe) we rely more on written law and reasonable interpretation in court, so it’s usually not necessary to spell out that a cassette player isn’t a fly swatter.

It’s basically common law vs. civil law traditions.

Unless fascist means something else to americans than to the rest of the world, the same way liberal is completely different to what liberal means outside of the US. :) some things get lost in translation.

Interesting, I’m in liberal Sweden and everyone here talks about it. I don’t mean to be rude, but if your friend is the median voter, do they generally don’t take part in politics, social media or the news then? One is sometimes blind to what’s right in front of one selves :)
