in NZ we used pounds, shillings and pence before 1967 (twelve pence to a shilling, twenty shillings to a pound), and went to dollars and cents. We were also abandoning pounds and ounces for weight in favour of kilograms at around the same time. Assume it was similar over the ditch in Aus.
