Sunday reading and Sunday listening. Having been set straight by @andrewmale.bsky.social, @iammilliam.bsky.social and @drlauravarnam.bsky.social on @backlisted.bsky.social that this is not a romance, I have decided to put aside my prior misgivings and read Wuthering Heights.

Spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Opera In Concert performance of Andre Gretry’s Richard Coeur-de-Lion. The opera is rarely performed, but as some wonderful duets, trios and some songs go the chorus. The performances were excellent, all around.

Sunday dinner first time experiments. Braised Pork Shoulder with Tomatoes, Cinnamon and Olives and Creamy Leek Gratin with Parmesan. There are leeks in the pork as well. Both proved very popular.

What I did I not learn earlier that one of my favourite singers had released an album of his own songs?

Books read and listened to October 2025. An unusually long list. Some @backlisted.bsky.social as always. I am really enjoying On the Calculation of Volume. Empty Vessel is fascinating if you are interested in economics and the effects of globalization.

Sunday reading, Sunday listening and current audiobook. I am amazed how many new ways to deal with the time dilemmas have appeared in Vol 2. The audiobook is also a good choice. I am not yet decided on clarinet Goldberg Variations. Looking forward to attending @backlisted.bsky.social live tomorrow.

Someday the cranes and scaffolding will come down.

Sunday reading and Sunday listening. I have moved quickly on to On the Calculation of Volume II. I am fascinated to see where it goes next.

Ducks on the left, geese on the right. The pond is full of migrating wild fowl.

Finished in less than 24 hours. This has immediately moved to the top of the list to be my favourite book of the year.

The unexpected benefits of having young adult children with you on a holiday weekend. Your day can begin with a breakfast taco made entirely without your input.

Sunday reading, Sunday listening and current audiobook. The book is a remarkable analysis of the nature of time, both like and unlike Groundhog Day.
