I 100% agree with you, and if you want to ask the MP who proposed that question I’d very much enjoy the answer.

It would be infinity more intelligent than dismissing the proposal entirely with illogical nonsense.

I make no comment on the mechanism by which the RN would take part in such operations, only that dismissing them as “non defence tasks” is illogical.

The Royal Navy has a number of vessels comparable in size to the cutters and already have a standing task to assist border force when requested.

Perhaps we should also inform the ministry of defence that they shouldn’t be carrying out disaster relief, or is this just a criticism reserved for political opposition?
May 16, 2025 at 7:07 AM
What is defence if not the defence of our borders? Shall we rename it back to the ministry of war?

It’s possible that both people making claims here are making valid claims using two different and accurate sets of data.

But we’d need to see a graph showing the absolute number of manufacturing jobs to decide.
April 18, 2025 at 12:53 PM
This graph can’t show you whether there was a decline in manufacturing jobs, only if there was a decline in the proportion of manufacturing jobs as a percentage of non-farm jobs.

It’s entirely possible that there was a real terms decline, but this graph can’t show that data.

They should use each others names in the certs.

The OP account is called TASbot which likely means “tool assisted speedrun bot”.

I suspect the concern is that a higher clock speed means faster speed runs on SNES games today than when they were first manufactured, with no improvement in skill.

The only issue I took with your post is the claim that this isn’t normal. Unfortunately it’s entirely normal throughout history.

Normal doesn’t mean good, of course. Humans being in a perpetual state of warfare is normal, but it’s not good for anyone, for example.

🤣 sorry

I cannot disagree with the fact that you are contributing to the post count on bluesky. That checks out.

I’m not entirely sure why you are using the English Channel to counter my link about the naming of the North Sea (Unless you think they are the same thing?) The name literally changed from the German Sea to the North Sea in the English Language, by English people, for political reasons.
February 12, 2025 at 2:31 PM
On the contrary, it’s fairly normal in history. See North Sea en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Sea

That’s not to say that it’s a worthy renaming decision, but it’s entirely incorrect to say that the renaming of bodies of waters for political reasons is not normal.

An example:

If your game relies on specific colours alone to differentiate items in required gameplay you’ve just alienated 10% of the male population. Selecting shades rather than just colour, offering alternate colour settings, or adding additional identifiers beyond colour fixes the problem.

The game you are looking for is called “Eco”. It’s a multiplayer game where you start with basic tools and have to make a space laser to destroy an asteroid which will destroy the planet. Players each take on a profession, like Blacksmith.

It also has global climate change based on CO2 emissions.

Anything related to very old core memories. Like music/singing from when they were a teenager, telling them stories in which their life is the subject, arts and crafts if they are into that.

For me, the Iran-Iraq war. It started before I was born but finished quite a bit later. It was topical for us because we had Iranian refugees in our town.

Things might have changed recently. My friend ordered an M&S collection two years ago and got the wrong collection date. He turned up a day late and they’d already restocked his order. There was almost nothing left in the shop on the 23rd December!

#martinlewis when my daughter was three all she wanted for Christmas was a packet of quavers.

Obviously we bought her something else too!

I have merely come to the conclusion in the last 2 years that they are both terrible parties.

The SNP have been using the WFP against labour. By raising the WFP as a motion in the Scottish parliament they force the SNP to either put their money where their mouth is or stop using the WFP as a stick to beat labour.

Once again the people are the pawns for political games.

There is a degaussing test range there. The way degaussing configuration works is that you steam up and down a reverse track over a fixed line where sensor equipment measures your magnetic signature. Between each run the degaussing equipment is tweaked. tridentnewspaper.com/bedford-rang...

“This article is not included in your membership”. The FT is really trying their hardest to get me to cancel my membership. It seems like half the content is still behind a paywall even when paying hundred of pounds a year.

Do better.
