This is absolutely it. I'm on the left and frustrated by the left lionising this guy...because he was alt-right!

And by extension so are we.

You speak sense, but you'll get no shrift here. Much of the American left are determined to make him their hero, in the face of his alt-right politics and good sense.

I think it might help to have a more supportive dialogue for men feeling disenfranchised and disempowered?

What's bewildering is the way in which he's been adopted and idolised by the US Left, despite some quite concerning takes. The overall takeaway is that he represents, beyond his own personal or political affiliations, the anger of the American people at being exploited. And that's interesting.
