• Monarch has placed clones of herself throughout the multiverse to befriend each hero. This is a way for her to learn about each hero so she can defeat them if they get out of line.

• She is the sole Valkyrie -- a species charged with protecting the multiverse. Due to the other Valkyries betraying and killing their queen (Monarch's older twin Lee), she ended up killing all the Valkyries and taking up her sister's identity and title.
