The wave breakers is called “dolosse” in Afrikaans (translated as knuckle bones) and Eric Merrifield is widely credited as its inventor when he worked as harbour engineer, and developed it after a storm in East London, South Africa, in 1963.

Not to tell the master what to do, but composition wise, I never understood showing a bland back panel taking up a quarter of the of the actual canvas. Was it to direct attention/focus? If so, I can see how that worked
