Amateur... trombonist, writer, composer, tenor, engineer. Don't really like calling myself professional in anything. Generally interested, gets things wrong, multiple points of view. Tea or coffee.
Also, when you move in with somebody who also has all their books on an ereader, you don't double your collection...

Love books (the ones I like, anyway), just want to point out a secondary benefit: shelves of books are also excellent sound dampeners - rooms without them can sound hollow, echoey.

I was wondering about the typical European delivery van / minibus, like the Ford Transit or Opel Vivaro, which don't feel like they contribute to bloat. Is their cab-forward, stubby-hood design a factor, or are there just too few of them to constitute a societal danger?

Thanks for raising this! I'm not in Ireland, but a relative there recently went so far as to try joining the Green Party, who are completely out of touch with the issue. Politics / politicians need to be be woken up and deloused (I mean de-lobbied) for change to happen. Good luck, power to you!

There's a statue to the Russian Prince Alexander Obolenski, WWII fighter pilot and then England rugby international, in Ipswich news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news... Or do you mean people who helped to *form* the armed forces?

It's gone again. But it still got me thinking, perhaps an opportunity for a refresh...!

As an occasional blogger now moving to a new provider, it's been shocking to see how many of my links from just ten years ago are now to error messages. I guess I'll have to do more screenshot and description work on my future posts, so they still make sense ten years from now...

One word missing from the article is "city": these appear to be largely liberal islands amidst a broad swath of "countrysidists" with deeper historical roots
