Long time software engineer, game developer, now building a no-code game builder platform for creators - easily make narrative and decision-driven games - more resource management and thinking, lets twitch and 3D open world!
For game depth, player actions should result in more than just loot. Gaining XP is one thing, gaining XP towards skills is another. Or how about a magical sword gaining XP towards an upgrade? Or a non-magical axe being worn down with use?
This adds depth and strategy beyond just receiving loot!

Building a game economy is a process of defining resource "taps and sinks", balancing them and tying them to player motivation.

I stumbled across this extremely thorough article exploring this aspect of game design, and thought I'd share.

My point-and-click game builder lets you build games by defining game components (npcs, harvestable resources, factories, gear, skills...) and the workflows that players can use to interact with them (build, research, upgrade...).

Just a few weeks away from sharing my first demo!

Ugh. So. I was caught in layoffs months ago and things are getting a bit desperate. If anyone is looking to hire a 15-year industry vet with a bunch of awards to do game design, narrative design, content design, or writing (games or other things!), please hit me up.

I believe in a world where more people can create and share games. Right now, the barrier to both is too high!

Not every game needs to be a blockbuster, it can be something simple and clever, scratches an itch, goes deep on a niche idea.

Being easy to build, share and play makes up for a lot!

I believe everyone has a story to tell, experiences to share, and what better way to share than with a game? But making games is hard, which is why I'm building MultiBit, to make it easy!
The goal is to be able to build a game from your phone, on the go, and then make those games easy to share!

AI feels threatening, to coders and artists alike. But the genie is out of the bottle, time to adapt, and create more than you ever could before!
