Note from author Ursula K. Le Guin to Betty Allen dated August 1969. Dear Mrs. Allan, You must think me a very arrogant author, but I was only an absent one. We have been living in London all year, and the — of our Portland house didn’t forward your letter: I got it as we passed through Portland this week - five months late. I do most sincerely regret she communications gap. I'm delighted that you like A Wizard of Earthsea, and hope that some of the kids have been liking it too! My own children have used + admired you childrens collection for ten years, and when we're settled back home (in September) & should very much like to come in and meet you. When I met Mrs Scott at the —- feast, the book was still in the making; I remember she said That "we need more serious fantasies" - a most encouraging word at that point. Please give her my regards.
