Great synopsis. My grandma was adamant when she saw that I was learning about the Civil War that I call it the “War of Northern Aggression.” She would drone on abt how the south would rise again.

Her father was a ranking Klan member and the sheriff of their county in the early 1900s. So it tracks.

Unfortunately, I grew up with family members from the south who really believed in the lost cause myths.

I didn’t understand the horrors of slavery until I read the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. So thankful to have read that in high school. It made me more curious to learn more.
