Oh no. I might get into watch repair. I have too many projects but the gears call to me.

Has anyone else in retail noticed an uptick in aggressive customers?
I've worked at my store for years and rarely would there be an incident but in the last few months there's been several people straight up screaming at and threatening me and my coworkers. Feels like everyone is meaner these days.

I've had to use my angle grinder on my car too many times today. Why must the exhaust manifolds have studs instead of bolts on the tailpipe side? Why have a bracket that connects to nothing? Why must they come out THROUGH THE BOTTOM?!

A very heartfelt fick dich to whoever designed the e90 engine bay. I shouldn't need to climb on top of the engine to get to exhaust bolts. It'd be one thing if it had a v10 but c'mon an i6? Harrumph!

I no longer have a bmw with no oil leaks. It was nice while it lasted.

Y'know I complain about the humidity here a lot, but it's actually been keeping those cups at leather hard a lot longer than I expected, which is great because I forgot about them for a day.

Well I'm definitely out of practice and my reclaim is still lumpy but I managed to have a couple things come out alright.

Finally got to take some pics of a couple of things with my new (to me) camera. Both are cone 5 b-mix, blue one's glaze is coyote blue purple if I remember correctly, and the brown/blue one's is spectrum texture autumn.

Welp, now I gotta take my car apart again. Gotta love this Bavarian bs.

Big shout-out to @jeremy-fielding.bsky.social for his videos about electric motors. Very informative and definitely made this project a lot less daunting for me.

Unfortunately I couldn't use the motor controller board that was already in the treadmill because it had to have the speed sensor connected with the correct signal from the trigger wheel that I can't use.
September 29, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Ok here's the materials I've gotten together for the wheel so far. Most of it came from the treadmill, but I got a motor controller board, a couple switches, a potentiometer, and a plastic junction box to contain it all as well.

Ya boi finally has a non-phone camera
September 18, 2025 at 12:25 AM
Gonna do a little more fiddling with the wiring, but I've got it to where I can control the motor speed with a little potentiometer. I'll work on the box I'm gonna put the electronics in and I'll have another update with pics and cost so far
September 14, 2025 at 2:49 PM
I'll probably post occasional updates on the wheel project and a final cost at the end, but I don't think it's unreasonable to think I could build a pretty good wheel for under $300. That being said, I do have more tools than most people, so idk, grain of salt and all that.

Alright, haven't posted in a while but I'm working on building my own wheel since the full size ones cost more than I bought my last car for. Already tore apart a treadmill, just waiting for the motor controller to come in.

The best thing about reclaim clay is that it's free

Finally some space. I put my workbench on wheels, but with the locks it's stable enough to wedge on for now.

Finally making some progress on the many problems my car has, but I think I've finally rounded the corner of "won't have to be under it for a while".
It's so fun having an old e90.
European vehicle ownership is so rewarding.
I love buying new tools for one job.

Anyone else kinda like breaking their own stuff?
July 19, 2025 at 1:06 AM
This is probably my favorite result of this glaze, it doesn't normally come out like this, and I haven't been able to replicate it's since. Whenever I get to mixing my own glazes, I'm definitely gonna try to get something like this.
July 17, 2025 at 12:31 AM
I may be getting my hands on a treadmill soon. Ideally I can take the motor and some other electronics out for a couple projects. I want a stronger wheel, and since a new one is wayyy out of my budget, I'm gonna try to make one. Another thing to crowd the garage though lol

Here's an old fire bowl I made while I was still doing wheel classes at ceramics by Tess. So far the largest thing I've made; had to use her Brent wheel since mine can't handle more than about 5lbs.

Figured I should post an actual picture of pottery sometime. Here's a couple sake sets I made a couple years ago.
