Patchwuff vinyl is finally here! Thankyou so much to everyone for being so patient... we've got a busy couple of days packing ahead, and we'll start shipping them out ASAP after the weekend. Phew, etc.

So 'What's In The Mulgrave Bag Today?' Something that reminds @bobfischer.bsky.social of how he once discovered his destiny (wahey!) in Stockton High Street in 1979...

The vinyl is still on its way, but the Patchwuff postcards have battled their way through Storm Floris and just arrived! One free with every vinyl order...

It's #bandcampfriday! Maybe a good day for a little rummage around our shop? We produce audio drama flavoured with 1970s disquiet, 1980s fantasy, vintage synth soundtracks and added Valerie Singleton. "Spellbinding journeys into worlds a step to the side of our own" - Starburst

So 'What's In The Mulgrave Bag Today?' Why, only @andreworton.bsky.social's prime infuence on the writing of 'Fellfoul'. Does anyone else have a smattering of conversational Anglo-Saxon?

Very grateful for this write-up on the brilliant 'A Year In The Country' website. We're mentioned in the new AYITC book 'Other Worlds', too! "Fever dream versions of 'uncanny' series brodcast alongside the likes of Children of the Stones"? We'll take that...

New release! Our next drama is called 'A Very Yorkshire Wormhole' and has a beautiful lead performance from Jonathan Linsley - star of Last of the Summer Wine and Pirates of the Caribbean. It's been written by our own @bobfischer.bsky.social... and here's Jonathan getting to grips with Bob's script.

So 'What's In The Mulgrave Bag Today?' Why, the rare Coronation Street memorabilia that @andrewtsmith.bsky.social bought during lockdown. Before you watch, place your bets as to which character it concerns. You'll probably be right...

Actor Peter Bennison is probably best known for playing Prince Drobo in the 1983 Fellfoul movie, 'Sword of the Fellmaidens'. But true Bennison aficionados know that his most touching performance comes in 'Lower the Atlantic'. That heartbreaking scene with the waterlogged ledger...

Our mystery alien has been identified by @simoncoward.bsky.social - he is, apparently, Newt from The Starroid Rangers range! The 1978 glowing head variant. But then you knew that anyway..

What's In The Mulgrave Bag Today? A bit of a mystery! Can anyone help @bobfischer.bsky.social identify the little action figure he bought circa 1979? We're pretty sure it's not really Fake Flywalker from Fart Wars...

It feels like a Fellfoul kind of day. Mists are gathering and we hear the distant echo of medieval synths. This was our love letter to 1980s swords and sorcery, starring Aja Dodd and with a terrific original soundtrack from Ghost Box Records' Belbury Poly. Download and 10" vinyl still available...

This was claimed instantly! Well done @sihart.bsky.social. Yes, we visited Aldbourne - aka Devil's End from the Doctor Who story 'The Daemons' - on the way to meet Valerie Singleton. Fair to say, it's a village that happily embraces its TV heritage...

On the way to meet Valerie Singleton for the 'Patchwuff' recording sessions, we stopped off at one of our favourite TV locations. Free A3 'Fellfoul' poster to the first person who can name the TV show in question, the story title, the real-life village and its fictional name in the show!

So how did YOU pronounce "Dracula" when you were little? In this week's episode of 'What's In The Mulgrave Bag Today', our own @andreworton.bsky.social says "fangs for the memory" of a particularly formative moment...

Did anyone send off for their own Globulon the Sceptic? This advert ran in a single issue of the 1983 Fellfoul comic, but so many Globulons went unsold that the resulting landfill dump created a brand new hill on the outskirts of Newton Aycliffe.

We've been so lucky with our musical collaborators. Sandra Kerr, The Twelve Hour Foundation, Belbury Poly, Roger Limb... and Teesside's own Ben Hopkinson, here playing some of his beautiful score from 'Simon Perkins' Lurgy'. We asked him to imagine Pink Floyd soundtracking the Peanuts cartoons!

When we needed spoof 1970s Open University music for our drama 'Simon Perkins' Lurgy', there was really nobody to ask but @12hrfoundation.bsky.social. Jez and Polly did a wonderful job, and we released all their themes as a special download-only EP...

New feature! In the very first episode of 'What's In The Mulgrave Bag Today', @andrewtsmith.bsky.social reveals he owns a VHS tape on which a major Hollywood star once recorded a film off the telly for another major Hollywood star. Shocking revelation from @andreworton.bsky.social at the end, too.

The new issue of legendary sci-fi mag @starburst.bsky.social has Darth Vader on the front and a lovely two-page Mulgrave Audio feature by the charming @wcba.bsky.social. Thankyou so much! We'll (probably) never turn to the dark side of the Force, but we're very grateful.

Oh my! We've just taken possession of this clip - it seems to be from an episode of Patchwuff called 'The Expedition', long since thought lost. Narrated by Valerie Singleton with music by Sandra Kerr, it was found on a reel kept by original series producer Gordon Lovelady. Enjoy...

For anyone still struggling to find their way around Fellfoul...
June 9, 2025 at 1:03 PM
There's a curious link between 'Patchwuff' and 'Fellfoul'. Back in (we think) the early 1970s, Valerie Singleton reported on the original Fellfoul book series for a certain children's television programme. Here's an off-air audio recording that fell into our possession...

It was a thrill to record the 'Patchwuff' soundtrack - including two complete new songs - with the great Sandra Kerr. Folk legend, and Bagpuss' special friend! Here's Sandra saying hello to you all with a little live performance of Patchwuff's theme...
