I'm from Manchester, UK. The Industrial Revolution caused thousands to loose their jobs in weaving mills when the greedy mill owners saw how much they could increase their profits and reduce their dependency on human labour by replacing people with machines.
Human greed always wins out over people.

Robots have been used to make cars for years and they already replaced a lot of jobs in the auto industry. This next phase though will take it up a whole new level across most fields of work.
Get your kids to train as sparkies, plumbers or joiners as even bricklayers and plasterers may go I expect.
