When you positively have to stop a freight car or locomotive — Derails are emergency stopping devices designed to guide the wheels of a freight car or locomotive off the rails. OSHA requires that every industrial siding be equipped with a derail to deny locomotive entry before removing railcars."

I'm cheating a little by putting Earnhardt here but that documentary kicked ass and I highly recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a racing or sports documentary about one of the greats.

My family went to Roadhouse for dinner and an NFL team was getting dinner there. Reggie Williams signed a card for me, unprompted. He was very friendly though! Didn't know who he was before that moment lol.
