Collecting data as a means to marginalize the less powerful!! Thanks neo-liberal authoritarianism!!

It is not the same speech though. Criticizing the Israeli government's genocidal actions (and the U.S.'s complicity in them) is not the same as Holocaust denial, blood libel or the use of Antiemetic tropes.

These were moral standards at the time. Unless you discount the morals of those enslaved. Also, the actual anti-slavery movement of the time, which was strong enough to lead to abolition in many northern states.

If you take liberalism as synonymous with financial capitalism, then, yes, the left is illiberal. Trump is quite liberal from this definition. Liberalism gets conflated with rights and democracy, when practioners' real commitment is to wage theft, creating debtors and resource expropriation.

Mamdani got Trump to give a thumbs up in front of an anti-fascist.

True that!

It straight up guffawed at this exchange. At the same time, Trump doesn't see the term as an epithet.

What are the chances that every reference to Trump is declared confidential?

Zohran is forever on point. He talks about free buses in his sleep. Or at least that what my ex-COINTELPRO friends tell me.

I didn't realize rule of law is a radical idea. Like Biden and the ineffectual Garland, the current democratic leadership are not committed to bringing the grifters to court.

The primary goal is to stop Likud, the IDF and settlers from wiping out Gaza and the West bank, which is actively occuring. There is no tangible attempt to destroy Israel. There are many nations actively helping with the destruction of the Palestinian people and any hope for its statehood.

Are you talking about Palestine or Israel here? Because one is being actively erased and the other isn't.

Additionally, Trump uses a privatization argument to destroy a public good. His wealthy enablers will pick up the tab, so who cares if normal procedures are violated? It should be noted that the U.S. revolutionaries railed against luxury, including the events that entertained the king's court.

If the focus is expanded beyond electeds, its not close: the Unite the Right rally, The Tree of Life shooting, the upstate New York supermarket, the Texas Walmart, reproductive care providers, Dylan Roof to name more than a few.

Along with your writing/podcast, Sarah Jaffe's Work Wont Love You Back has been illustrative in feminized nature of carework. I'm in public education union spaces, and in many contract fights, we use gendered care work framings. We also use it to push for debt-free public higher ed.

From the frame I usually encounter on the left, "care work" is linked with "unpaid". It's not a romanticization of this work; rather it underscores the need to have UBI, universal health care (including robust elder care), parental leave, universal day care and early pre-K.

May's article does not mention that RFK's approach focuses on the faulty and dangerous premise about curing or preventing autism.

I'm not sure many historians political theorist try to predict the future. Rather, we are trying to use history and theory to chart better next steps. Marx and others help explain current power dynamics so we can envision better realities.

the Assumption College President uses Andy Ngo, the Proud Boy Propagandist, as the person that the campus left shut down. So not platforming a fascist is intolerant? It's frustrating that those who scolds academic never detail the beliefs of those they claim are being cancelled.
