Saying a game is an RPG is like saying it's for console or PC it's barely a genre qualifier and you know that. FF7 has barely any gameplay overlap with Elden Ring as opposed to Ninja Gaiden and Godhand.

Those are mostly hack and slash/ beat em ups. And you're never going to get 15 major releases of a similar genre ever. This is a super subjective and narrow definition of "gameplay dense". Regardless: Hades 2, Black myth wukong, helldivers 2, and warhammer40k space marine II compares.

The value of the artform is not defined exclusively by the things you find valuable. They are defined by what other people enjoy, you can adapt and grow or you can cling to the way you think art SHOULD be. Every generation shakes its fists at things becoming unfamiliar.

I think if you had complaints about writing quality ( in terms of some stories being formulaic)or about some games feeling empty as open worlds I would understand your gripes. But the things you say are missing are demonstrably in several recently released games.I feel like you're being disingenuous

I'm asking for what *you* mean, about "insensitive humour"not the median opinion. Otherwise, 1-2 major games a year that release under a pretty strict definition of what games you particularly enjoy seems incredibly reasonable. Every game can't be about taboo topics or a narrow scope of gameplay

He is easily the most fascinating character and an incredibly compelling villain. I think the difficulty for people is that Solas is a dick if you're not an elf and not particularly forthcoming or uh not a racist. It's hard for some to penetrated and get to WHY he fuckin rules in terms of writing.

I know it's fucked, but after playing as an elven mage I just see their plight as a colonized people and understand Solas' guilt surrounding the collapse of elvhen. I'm on his side 🤷🏾‍♀️ I don't give a fuck about the rest of Thedas.

The mistake is in thinking it's a productive guilt working towards remorse. It isn't. Sometimes guilt manifests as projection, and a false narrative of victimhood to justify cruelty. Sometimes it manifests as paper thin justifications and dehumanization of your victims to make you seem less evil.

All oppressive people are not sociopats. Regular, not mentally ill human beings are perfectly capable of unfathomable cruelty. Everybody who owned a slave in the Antebellum South wasn't a sociopath.

Illusion, BUT! Good for its time and audience!! It was a vampire shojou, already kind of a niche genre, at the height of the vampire craze. It was beautiful and weird and poorly written but very fun and preteen accessible. 11/10 would never watch again, but always fondly reminisce
