i like many, many things but writing bios is not one of them. ☁️ she/her. late 20s.
at the end of the day we'll both be watching the same romance-less season 2 of the pitt next year and hopefully her dislike for a ship won't stop her from enjoying it. i know my liking of a ship won't stop me from being obsessed with this show anyway

it's a bit contradictory but aren't we all allowed some self-indulgent contradiction? i'm glad she got to express her opinion that consequently got me to express mine. even if it came off as a personal attack and not just a disagreement on her published work

she blocked me and that's fine. i just think it's funny when someone publishes an opinion in a very public platform with bold and harsh judgements on random people just doing whatever and then they get annoyed when people offer a different opinion on that perspective

it's such a extreme response to such a nothing situation. "fandom acts like fandom: should we kill ourselves"?

and yes there should be and there is space for fandom discussion that is 1000% canon focused. stick to that and you won't be stroking out over nothing

making sure the show stays true to itself and the dynamics they fomented is the writer's responsibility, not the fandom's or shippers. fandom can and should disregard canon in fandom spaces, for silly and self indulgent reasons.

also if the writers/producers are dumb enough to give in to a ship popularity contest online that's pretty much exclusively on those decision-makers and not on fans who just want to draw some art and write some fanfic.

over the top? that's not to say plain weird. and to make that point by insisting on the infantilization of a neurodivergent character and immediately assigning asexuality to her is so boring at this point.

i think it's FINE to not like a (crack) ship and to consume media in a passive way, if you need the tv show to tell you what's ok to like, that's great. i just think this insistent rejection of a nothing-burger ship that attracted some hundreds of people online into regular fandom behavior is...

who actively engage in fandom. i think it's safe to say most fans and most shippers (of all the different pitt ships that exist) are aware that this is medical show that focuses on real issues that the US healthcare system faces and not a hookup central.

and in my experience with Langdon and Mel, that's kinda how that's going for the most part? i doubt that most shippers are expecting the writers to sit down and come up with cute date ideas for Mel and Langdon which is why there is fanfic. these articles also tend to really dumb-down people

i also think a lot of people don't understand fandom dynamics as much as they claim to because shipping has very often been based on canon-independence. canon is the window for a whole universe that belongs to the fandom and both canon and fanon can exist in parallel in total peace lmao
