Smoke from the west coast fires has finally made its way to nipaluna. If this is what we are copping all that way away I can’t imagine what the nearby towns are going through tonight.
The suburb of Sandy Bay smothered by thick smoke. The lights of night time suburbia appear covered with the prominent hills behind completely obscured.

I love nipaluna mornings like this
A glassy, calm and serene seascape. There are grey low clouds filling the sky, almost completely obscuring the other side of timtumili minanya/River Derwent. A few sail boats are moored and an old green wharf house juts out into the river from the right of frame.

The sun has risen on another Invasion Day. Today and every other, my heart grieves for what we have lost, and for the work we still need to do to. But while there’s sadness in my heart, there’s also fire in my belly. If my ancestors can survive and continue on, then so can I.

Found this incredible tree in a forest tagged for logging this summer. Didn’t realise it held the silhouette of a person until I was editing the week later.
Wonder if she’s been cut down yet.
