San Marcello is another of the 'Piccoli Borghi Belli delle Marche'. Founded in 1234, it still has well preserved fortified walls. In addition to a Renaissance palazzo, there is a lovely historic 'teatro sociale' and a castle surrounded by a hilly landscape renowned for olive groves and vineyards.

More PoL QCD tasting notes: Beta 2 is all porridge & honey, with berries on the palate. I loved Port of Leith Distillery's new 3 year old: Christmas baking in late autumn along with a plunge down memory lane: Girl Scout camp, with green wood, campfire ash, rain-damp netting, and salty butter!

As a member of the Quality Control Division of the Port of Leith Distillery, I take my tasting duties seriously. Today we tried a gorgeous new make spirit developed from Norwegian Kveik Voss yeast - a yummy Pink Lady Apple palate! It's going to be wonderful aged & cask strength in a few years time.

During the late 1700s + early 1800s a theater-building boom of 'teatri sociali' across Italy was driven by a new class of wealthy merchants and noble families, who viewed a local theater as a symbol of their town's prosperity, grandeur, and civic pride. Here's Monte Roberto's little jewel box teatro

Monte Roberto is one of the Piccoli Borghi delle Marche that dot this region on the Adriatic coast of Italy. These beautiful fortified hilltop towns retain the charm of centuries. Monte Roberto lies due west of the regional airport, which is in the seaside city of Ancona.

Bamboo really is a miracle plant - you can eat it, build homes and water pipes and bridges out of it, make clothing from it, and now it may help us reverse the harm we've done to our planet.
