Since I have a larger archival scanner bed now, I decided to scan in some of my old sketchbooks from last year. Here's Freedom Fighter Gunboy Amuro Ray!
A traditional gouache on paper illustration of Amuro Ray as he appeared in the early concept art for Freedom Fighter Gunboy, which would later become Mobile Suit Gundam, in 1977 to 1978. This piece features Amuro with pale skin, green eyes, orange hair and his original blue flight suit seen in the opening for 0079 Gundam. He stands with a serious expression looking to the left, standing on a piece of rubble. Behind him is a blood red moon and a blue, black and red mottled sky rendered in watercolor wash. The piece is signed in white ink "Chris 2025". This painting is akin to Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's gouache paintings.

Turn A Gundam's initial working title was "Ring of Gundam". It's borrowed from an unrealized Ideon project called "Ring of Ideon", which focused on a theme of restoration. In Ring of Gundam, "going in circles" was a running theme, i.e. like a ring.
