Exactly 😩 like if course it sucks when your child is unhappy, but distracting them every time with a screen is a bad coping skill to START with.
It’s one thing when you’re out of options and desperately need a break, or whatever. But as a routine??

Just like… use screens and acknowledge it’s not the best or even a good choice, but a survival strategy… and don’t lean on it too hard. Bc if you whip out a screen as soon as a child fusses and gets mad isn’t really a good strategy to stick with

Saying it’s educational doesn’t matter, firstly because people think the wildest shit is educational when it’s just overstimulation, but also because they’re an infant who cannot comprehend a screen and only see lights.

And then the “I don’t want to be shamed for it” when you should be feeling shame for it. Like I get you need to survive as a parent but just bc it helps doesn’t make it a good thing???

It’s okay to make less than good choices as a parent, but don’t dress them up like they’re good

It’s the juxtaposition of the “look at how well I’m still doing” while her baby isn’t even mobile yet, and then using screens.

As a non-parent I ofc don’t want to shame based on lack of personal experience, but “it helps with tummy time and witching hour” is just?? Yeah of course they’re mesmerized by a screen and shiny flashing things

now I just have to do all the scrubbing and other boring bits. but listening to a book while scrubbing the tiles and clearing out drains is far far more fun than reorganizing stuff bc you have to think way too much

okay I do have my sister's birthday party on monday, so that's social, buuut I am still feeling way too understimulated.

I know I have all this cleaning stuff to do in my apartment, but I think spending a few days with my parents is better. also I've done most of the annoying stuff.

I won’t say AI is completely useless, I have used it for things which Google and/or forums were no help and I had tried to find the answer but not finding anything that explained it in a way that I understood it. But I use it like 2x a year at most

“Don’t suggest Greek mythology names”
—> suggests only Greek mythology names
“I don’t like Nova”
—> suggests Nova
“I like Io but it’s Greek”
—> suggests Io
“I don’t want to use Aster bc of reasons”
—> suggests Aster

And then they downvote ME for saying the names aren’t part of the prompt
