8/ Yet Western politicians and media will never mention Palestine’s right to self-defense. Instead, they justify Israeli war crimes with “self-defense,” even when hospitals, schools, and civilians are the targets.

7/ And the UN has said it outright: Palestinians’ fight against colonial domination, apartheid, and occupation is legitimate. Their right to resist is recognized, even through armed struggle (within humanitarian law).

6/ So what does international law say about self-defense? It applies to Palestinians. Under the UN Charter, occupied people have the right to armed resistance to achieve self-determination and liberation. Yes, including Palestinians.

5/ Every Israeli airstrike, every missile, every soldier in Gaza is an illegal act. Israel’s legal obligation isn’t bombing Palestinians—it’s ending the occupation, dismantling settlements, and withdrawing.

4/ In 2004, the World Court affirmed that Israel’s occupation makes it ineligible to claim self-defense in Gaza. In 2024, it reiterated this: Israel’s occupation itself is illegal under international law.

3/ The UN Charter (binding on all member states) prohibits the use of force against other states unless in self-defense from external attacks. But Gaza isn’t “external” to Israel—it’s occupied territory.
