It was the annual MtS Humber Quiz Night at St Mary’s Barton on Saturday. Here are a couple of pics. The second shows the glorious winning Goole team. They lost on the tie break last year, so the victory was that much sweeter this year.

We took three seafarers to the centre. Two Indian, one Bangladeshi. One spoke Tamil, one Hindi and one Bangla. One was Roman Catholic, one was Muslim and one Hindu. They get along just fine!

I met Clive Naidoo, the Cape Town Chaplain, at the ICMA conference in Barcelona. Cape Town is the Humber link port. Until now I have only spoken to Clive by video call. It has been great to meet him in person.

MtS Humber was featured in the recent MNWB report…well at least in four wheel format. That’s our new car in the article photo. It has already done over 10,000 miles in the service of seafarers.

We had a great day at Hornsea Blue Light Festival. Rocks, wristbands, bubbles and hanging onto the gazebo in high winds. Special thanks to Nick and Michael.

We joined Spittal Parish Church in Tweedmouth for their Sea Sunday celebrations. It was a great community event and we loved taking part.

There was a fire in the hold of the Altay, moored in Albert Dock in Hull on Friday. Working with our Stella Maris colleagues we were able to respond swiftly with welfare support for the crew, providing transport, shore facilities, food and internet connections

Yesterday we celebrated the International Day of the Seafarer with Churches Together in East Hull. It was great to have four Filipino crew members from the Scot Pioneer join us for the service - here they are pictured with the Brethren of Hull Trinity House!

The joint MtS/Stella Maris team in Goole hosted a barbecue for seafarers on Monday evening. It was an excellent occasion with crew from four ships coming along. Thanks to St John’s, Goole for making it possible.

This is Kevin, who we met recently. He is a Filipino seafarer who had to stop work after an accident onboard. After an operation and several years ashore he is back onboard. His is a story of recovery and prayerful patience. It was great to meet him.

Yesterday evening St John’s Church in Goole hosted a seafarer barbecue. It was a good evening and included a game of rounders.

There is a new temporary exhibition in the Hull History Centre based on work done on
the Mission to Seafarers archive. Well worth a visit by anyone interested in the lives and welfare of seafarers.
