Hi everyone! I have since created a Bluesky account as I plan to eventually migrate off of “X” and be more active here. This will be a learning curve so please be patient as I adjust to this app. Make sure to watch Newswatch 12 Today on WJFW.com or on TV if you live in the area!
Dry conditions, low humidity, and gusty winds have created dangerous fire conditions across the state. Areas experiencing at least a "high" fire danger are under burn bans. The smallest spark from anything can cause a fire to start and spread quickly.

8:30 AM Update: So far, no changes to the fire danger map from the Wisconsin DNR. Many counties remain in a "very high" fire danger because vegetation hasn't grown in yet and the weather remains dry. Burn permits remain suspended as a result. In Southern Wisconsin, the risk is lower.

I went live from outside the Oneida County Courthouse this morning. The sunrise definitely made for some amazing shots. The Northwoods is definitely a beautiful place to live in!

Dry air aloft is preventing precipitation from reaching the ground this morning. As the atmosphere gains moisture, opportunities today, tonight, and tomorrow will exist for rain and snow showers. Little to no snow accumulations and rainfall near a tenth of an inch are expected.
April 9, 2025 at 2:32 PM
Today will be warmer with highs in the low 40s under a partly cloudy sky. Rain and snow chances move in Wednesday into Wednesday night. Little to no snow accumulations expected. Conditions transition to rain showers Thursday before temperatures warm up by the weekend.
April 8, 2025 at 2:02 PM
Low temperatures this morning fell into the single digits and teens. The one exception is Land O' Lakes which saw a low temperature below zero. That is well below the average low of 26º. We won't do that again tonight with low temperatures in the upper teens to lower 20s.
April 8, 2025 at 2:01 PM
Snow showers will begin to taper off this afternoon. Any additional accumulations will be minimal. We're dry Tuesday before small chances for rain and snow arrive Wednesday through Thursday. Notice the beautiful warm up that's coming just in time for the weekend! #wiwx

Watches are getting upgraded to warnings. Now is the time to be prepared for this system in case you lose power or if things get icy and slippery.
March 28, 2025 at 7:04 PM
Along the U.P. border, around 2-4 inches of snow is possible. This will occur Saturday night through Sunday night. By Sunday night, more cold air will move in and switch additional areas to snow.
March 28, 2025 at 1:58 PM
This is how drastic the warm front is that's bringing the precipitation this weekend. Some of our southern counties could see highs in the 60s and 70s. Just north of the warm front, highs could range from the 30s to the 50s.
March 28, 2025 at 1:57 PM
The biggest concern with this system will be ice. We'll get around a tenth to two tenths of an inch of ice tonight. That will melt away Saturday before we bring in 0.1" to 0.4" of ice Saturday night through Sunday night. Expect power outages and downed trees. Travel might be virtually impossible.
March 28, 2025 at 1:57 PM
A wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow will arrive late Friday morning. It will transition to rain as temperatures rise. We'll switch to a wintry mix Friday night which may cause ice accumulations. We'll melt that away before another wintry mix moves in Saturday night through Sunday.
March 27, 2025 at 2:32 PM
A wintry mix will approach Friday and last through Sunday. Friday at around noon is when the it starts. It'll switch to rain during the day before becoming a mix at night. We'll change back to rain Saturday before rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow move in again Saturday night through Sunday.
March 26, 2025 at 1:22 PM
A beautiful sunrise across the Northwoods this morning! We'll be under a partly cloudy sky today with highs reaching for the upper 30s.
March 25, 2025 at 1:15 PM
A good fight for Western Illinois Women's Basketball. Not the outcome we wanted, but a heck of a battle. Until next season.
March 23, 2025 at 8:59 PM
Definitely a good one at Illinois State! Go Western Illinois!
March 23, 2025 at 7:47 PM
The clouds are filtering the northern lights tonight, but they’re out!
March 22, 2025 at 3:32 AM
Our next system is moving on shore and will start getting its act together Saturday. A wintry mix will develop late Saturday night. It will become rain and snow Sunday with snow primarily north and snow changing to rain in the south. Snow accumulations are expected.
March 21, 2025 at 2:09 PM
A beautiful sunrise in Tomahawk and across the Northwoods this morning. The sun will be with us all day. Only thing to monitor will be gusty winds up to 25 mph. The roads will gradually improve with the sunshine and warming temperatures.
March 20, 2025 at 1:20 PM
Snow totals have shifted a little bit south with this morning's update. Everything will get started at around 12 to 1 PM and taper off by early Thursday morning. Travel will be difficult if not impossible in some areas. Downed trees and power outages are also a concern.
March 19, 2025 at 12:25 PM
The Wisconsin DNR continues to maintain a high fire risk across most of the Badger State. Some spots are low to moderate, but overall, the high to very high categories stand out. Make sure to check with the DNR before burning today and exercise caution when burning.
March 18, 2025 at 2:27 PM
Heavy wet snow is on the way! The main event will start at around 9-10 AM Wednesday and last through early Thursday morning. In addition to the heavy wet snow, winds up to 40 mph are possible. That will cause power outages for many locations.
March 18, 2025 at 1:58 PM
This is why we don’t wear green on a green screen (also known as chroma)! We become one with the graphics!
March 17, 2025 at 10:28 PM
The Wisconsin DNR has most of the Badger State under a "High" to "Very High" fire danger today. Parts of the Northwoods remain "low" to "moderate" for now. Despite that, 207 wildfires have already occurred across the state this year.
March 17, 2025 at 1:25 PM
A beautiful sunrise in the Northwoods this morning! We'll see a mixture of clouds and sunshine today with a slight chance for sprinkles and flurries. Temperatures will reach for the upper 40s.
