For example, ls outputs a list of filenames seperated by newlines. But what if a filename contains a newline character?

Also, so I can get one learning thing done today, I have learned that apparently in Linux almost any character is valid for filenames, and therefore you should not use ls to grab a list of filenames in bash due to potential security concerns or unexpected behaviour.
