a civilian driving away is not a threat that needs to be neutralized (killed). it was terrible judgment by the agent to react this way.

part of okc’s defensive prowess comes from committing fouls early in the shot clock and daring the officials to break up the flow of the game by blowing the whistle. you’re mad at the world because the thunder committed obvious fouls all game and the officials had the gaul to call them.

agreed that it creates weirdness. and also agreed that a couple good teams in the west will probably just miss the playoffs. i guess my take is that the imbalance the cup creates pales in comparison to the imbalance between east and west.

more than half of the teams in the nba make the playoffs. i know the west is going to be tight, but if playing one extra regular game against the thunder is too much adversity and knocks the spurs out of the playoffs, that’s a sign that they’re not ready to take the next step.

point taken, but to be fair, i was watching the game live, half-listening to the commentary, and i had the same initial reaction as buckbuck. i imagine a lot of other viewers were probably under the same misunderstanding.

i happen to be in dc today and got tickets to the game. never felt sadder vibes at a sports venue. it feels like everybody is here against their will.

kawhi was that guy for the spurs less than 10 years ago. that we consider this a long drought speaks to the charmed history of the spurs franchise more than anything else.
