Arsenal has scored 22 corner-kick goals since last season, 7 more goals than any other side.

Their superiority in the set-piece continues to help them get positive results and keep the pressure for the top spot.

Huge credit to Nicolas Jover.

Following the 2nd goal, Arsenal creates another chance with similar patterns.

Three players block the opponent in the centre part of the box while Timber and Partey block Mazraoui in the far post (again).

Creating the space for Merino's free header.

Timber and Merino work together to block Mazraoui — allowing Partey to get space for the header and find Saliba.

From previous attempts, Arsenal’s attacking corner kick patterns involve overloading the far post ➡️ near post.

However, they try to attack differently at the second goal — 2 players attack the centre part of the box while 3 players stay in the far post.

Both Rice and Saka can deliver numerous amounts of inswing crosses close to the opponent’s goal which can lead to dangerous situations if not cleared perfectly.

Zirkzee almost scored an own goal not long after the first goal.

At the first goal, Timber gives a slight push to Hojlund and then attacks the gaps in the near post.

Saliba can’t move towards Onana but that’s enough for them to get the ball into the back of the net.

Amongst the 4 players in the near post, Partey’s attacking position is the closest to Saliba.

The last player (usually Havertz/Kiwior) stays in the far post.

When the ball is kicked, 4 players run towards the near post to attack or block while Saliba disrupts the GK (Onana) in the centre part of the box.

Partey gets the space in between but misses the ball.

From their 1st attempt — Arsenal looks to overload the far post with 6 players (Saliba, Havertz, Kiwior, Partey, Timber, & Martinelli) in their starting position against Man United’s zonal marking.

Despite Gabriel Magalhães' absence, Arsenal could score two goals from corner-kicks. Timber and Saliba stepped up and helped decide the game last night.

Because of that, we will focus on analyzing Arsenal’s corner-kick attempts against Manchester United.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal continued their winning run by beating Manchester United 2-0 at Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners struggled to create chances from open play against Amorim’s 5-2-3 defensive shape, but their set-pieces can threaten every team in the world.
December 5, 2024 at 1:10 PM
Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United project is still a work in progress but this is already an exciting start for the fans — some players have displayed great performances and now they need to build consistency to improve their position in the table.

Sometimes Man United’s front 3 also doesn’t provide enough protection, which makes it easier for Everton to progress through the middle.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Despite that, Everton found some gaps in Man United’s defensive block.

They bait/drag the double pivot to create central access for players like Ndiaye and McNeil to exploit.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Amad’s defensive work rate is not something I’m aware of — he shows tenacity in winning the ball back and it helps Man United to score two goals.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
From out-of-possession, Ruben Amorim’s side presses using a 4-1-3-2 shape — Amad joins the 2nd line with one of Rasfhord/Bruno and Mainoo.

He can anticipate the pass and win the ball in the process of the 2nd goal.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Man United created some great chances through build-up but they scored their 1st goal through corner kick.

Mainoo & de Ligt block the Everton defenders to create space for Rashford to attack.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Structurally, Man United often outnumbers Everton in defensive transition but they need to improve the execution — as there are still some loose moments.

At times, the opponent can still get away from the pressure.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Zirkzee allows the attacking midfielders (especially Rashford and Garnacho) to get more space and focus in advanced positions.

Amad also gains advantage from this due to Man United often switching the play to the right-hand side.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Unlike Rashford, Zirkzee is comfortable in receiving back-to-goal and providing hold-up/link-up play.

He smoothes things around him and improves the ‘flow’ of the build-up.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Bruno Fernandes remains heavily involved in the build-up — frequently dropping deep or drifting wide to connect play.

His movements can drag the opponent and create space for Dalot/Lisandro to attack.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
With both Mazraoui and Lisandro filling the wide centre-back position — it elevates Man United’s technical security and build-up quality,

The wing-backs benefitted from it, as they can advance to receive in more attacking positions but the execution from Dalot and Amad needs to improve.
December 2, 2024 at 1:43 PM
Ruben Amorim secured his second victory as Manchester United manager, with his team dominating Everton in a 4-0 win.

Since the Ipswich game, he made some changes in the lineup — players like Lisandro Martinez, Mainoo, and Zirkzee were picked to start in the 3-4-3 formation.
