The pool of blood was putting pressure on her heart and blood vessels. They were able to stop the bleeding on the second attempt and a follow-up surgery was necessary to evacuate the accumulated blood.

Her medications made this a tricky thing to do. Some necessary medications had to be postponed and risk the complications. They later discovered that there was a leak from a small blood vessel under her skin and the blood was pooling.

But the failure will come after years of effort and at great cost. The cost will be in many forms. Financial costs of many kinds, social costs, the cost to the principles of our country, and the cost of damaged foreign relationships.

It may make great sound bites and headlines, but lousy policy.

Where a great number of people on the criminal and enforcement side became influential and wealthy but the goal of eliminating the production and consumption of alcohol was never achieved?

If a sport's rules require discrimination then the rules should provide for non-discrimination. This may be through measurable things like weight classifications in wrestling.
