Iskwew though, the closest is seer or prophet. There is no connection to your physical body. No change in your name as it does when you move from infanthood into youth or adulthood. Not tied to creating heirs or spares, or children. How you move community forward.
Any one, any body can do that.

A woman is the wife of a man.
There is no age of consent in that.
There is the concept on sex and binaries.
There is the context of marriage defining you.

To all my kindred Two Spirit femmes, transwomen who are struggling with the notions of woman, I love you.

In my language learning, nêhiyawêwin does not have genders. We have accommodated english to translate iskwew into woman but this is not the same.
