I post stuff that I find cool when I want to post it. Seems simple enough.
I mean, the decision is a lot older than the Trump Administration and everyone saw it coming. It sucks, but, sadly, it was economically necessary.

They have primarily blown up on the landing barges due to faulty landing legs or undermitigated landing forces, so it's mostly offshore and not in-air.

Ah, yeah. I mean, sure, I guess. I personally just don't care if the later is there so long as the former also is, but I guess you can just discourage space tourism. I personally don't because it's one of a few industries that support development of offworld manned facilities, but to each their own.

I mean, they could, but costs of doing business would rise as as a result and telecom infrastructure would get a lot more expensive, which would suck. Everyone in the aerospace field knows this, including the Chinese, which is why they also have private companies like Landspace now.

I mean, the launch costs per pound to orbit are considerably lower these days than they were before, primarily resultant of SpaceX. The main reason they've stagnated instead of continuing down is a lack of competition with SpaceX, which Blue Origin solves.

I mean, it makes science and research cheaper, so that's all I really care about here.

They, uh, are testing their stuff in Ukraine already. They've actually had quite a few press conferences where Palmer Luckey was talking about current combat performance and how useful the testing there is.

Depends on if you count telecom infrastructure as litter.
November 10, 2025 at 9:56 PM
I mean, private launch contractors is objectively a good thing since it allows scientific missions and emgaconstellations to be launched for next to nothing.
November 10, 2025 at 9:54 PM
To be fair, in this case, I don't think the call is being made for economic reasons.

Well, since that particular booster has launched 28 times and they're certified for around 40 launches per booster before they eventually fail and crash into the ocean or tip on landing after payload deployment, it'll probably blow up or be retired in the range of 6 months to a year.

The standard these days is DNA testing.
November 10, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Yeah, it's actually very good news since the NERVA program seemed like it was on the chopping block until recently. But Isaacman is a fan of it, so we've got that going.

Not really sure if the image loaded, but, if it did, I hope it's funny.

Why would it?
November 10, 2025 at 5:23 PM
It's basically just wireless satellite-based internet and cell service anywhere in the world.
November 10, 2025 at 5:23 PM
The satellites automatically deorbit themselves after around 5 years.

Forgive me if I'm wrong since I'm not the top rules lawyer, but wouldn't this cause some issues with DoDD 1344.10?
November 10, 2025 at 5:10 PM
Angus King is an independent; he can't be primaried.
November 10, 2025 at 5:06 PM
He's up to around 26% from a poll released a day ago, and that data is slightly older. It'd be really funny if he won or got second.

Funnily enough, they have special riot visors and gas masks for the horses.
November 2, 2025 at 7:24 PM
There likely will be. Like most government projects, it will be overbudget and severely delayed, but it's a relatively straightforward missile defense network that's basically just the modern equivalent and expansion of our Cold War systems, so there's plenty of precedent here.
November 1, 2025 at 2:57 AM
I mean, you can disagree with who got the contract, but these satellites are very much within the range of possibility. I mean, the DSP already exists and operates similar satellites. We just need newer ones and a lot more of them to expand our missile defense screen.
