Can you even study the butterfly life cycle without dressing like a butterfly?

It was "release day" for 2nd grade butterflies but oura were still in chrysalis form at this point (I thought they died tbh, turns out they needed wayyyy more time than the other classes) so my class released me...;)

First day of school vibes (pre-k, 4th grade, 2nd grade)!

First teacher workday complete:

1. All day meeting.
2. I was not productive during breaks.
3. A very sweet lady I work with hit my car in the parking lot.
4. I did not go viral or collect 10k followers on tiktok.

My first teacher workday is tomorrow and I am just aimlessly meatballing around the house letting out sporadic sighs.

Stages of Summer: A Thread

2 Weeks Prior to Summer: Increase level of joy paired with decreased levels of work ethic. Zero *cares* given.

1 Week Prior to Summer: It's like Old Town Road in the school, can't nobody tell nobody nothin'!

Last Day: Depends on your class but usually bittersweet.

An ick I have is when people correct someone else's grammar/spelling/typos on the internet.

The tiktok posts of parents writing names on individual markers, crayons, and pencils has started...and so has the twitching in my left eye.

Pluto reposted me on @tiktok. We are pretty much besties now. Guess I better start packing my tour bag! ;)

For the last few years, I've spent July posting my #clearthelist

This year has been no exception.

Each year, every platform starts hemorrhaging links and it feels like I'm on some sort of reality TV show, but the prize is pencils.

I can't help but wonder if it's time to stop.

Unpopular opinion: I don't hate off brand school supplies, even the Roseart crayons are okay by me!

I do prefer my pencils to be pre-sharpened though! #edusky #badandboujie?

Has anyone who taught pre-Covid noticed that kids are thirstier now?

I don't remember many (if any) kids bringing water bottles. They drank out of the fountain mayyyybe twice a day. Now they are running through multiple bottles a day, hydrating like Olympic athletes.

Hi! I am reposting my #amazonwishlist for #clearthelist one more time while we still have some time left for #primeday!

I'm a 2nd grade teacher in NC trying to make the most memorable experiences ever this school year! I would be forever grateful for any help!

Reposting my wishlist because it is PRIME DAY!

Many items will help to create the most magical of experiences in Castle Infinity, where possibilities are endless for my 2nd graders. Some items are definitely extra, but "extra" is what makes school so fun! :)

My dad passed pretty unexpectedly almost 6 months ago.

I have mostly failed to deal with it and have largely kept carrying on like normal...but sometimes when things get real quiet I replay that week in my mind in slow motion and I feel stuck.

I remember when I first started teaching I wasn't sure what a digraph was. My idea of comprehension was doing whatever the basal told me.

Now I'm on a committee rewriting our district Unit Planning Organizers.

Life is wild.
