I appreciate your post! I just have a question, if you have a minute. I have tried using Apples to Apples with newcomers, but it's just complicated and U.S. culture oriented and doesn't work for them. I'm wondering if you use any modifications to make it work for your students. THANKS

Not me. Maybe because I work with ELs. Every student is different, so suggestions like "teach these vocabulary words to ELs" is often not applicable to all ELs.

I think we have to try not to think ahead so much and just take in one day, one hour, or one minute at a time. Thinking ahead is really overwhelming me, so I'm going to focus on each now as it comes. I hope you feel a little less overwhelmed soon🙂

Thank you for sharing! Going to look for it. Last great one I read was taken from his journals - The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr. (ed, by Carson). I especially loved reading his words on the 1st day of the boycott, the anticipation of whether or not the buses would be mostly empty...
