Work in progress, larger than I usually work, so I’m going super slowly and very deliberately.

2025-04-14 It was a beautiful day to do some observations at the South Jetty Osprey nest. Busy birds working on building up the nest with sticks from the woods at South Beach.

4/14/25 just a peek at the beautiful papers I made in Pietro’s Italian marbling class at the Newport Paper and Book Arts Festival last week. And, the fabulous flame patterned silk scarf I made on day two!

My first attempts at using silver clay. Impressed images (two were wax seal imprints, my initials were done using metal stamping letters). The process was pretty easy and I’m so happy with the results. Looking forward to working with this again!

3/13/25 Calm and sunshine along the South Jetty on the Yaquina River. Sea lions, seals and sea birds in abundance.

3/13/25 A little peace and sunshine this afternoon on the South Jetty, along the Yaquina River. You can see seals and sea lions feasting on herring, along side surf scoters and other sea birds. Notice the tide pushing the water back upriver (to the right) and then the river pushing back to the left.

It was lovely to spend time with octopus 24-02 at Hatfield Marine Science Visitor Center today and introduce her to the school children who were visiting today. Also, we have some beautiful little shrimp in the estuary tank. Other surprises coming this spring!

Last week, I got a chance to repair a couple of sea otter skulls for the ODFW education programs, with fellow BoneHead, Roseann. Off they go, to help tell the story of why sea otters are absent from the Oregon Coast and why they need to be brought back.

Stand Up For Science 3/7/25, in Newport, Or. We had a pretty impressive turnout for a town of only 10,000!

3/3/25 My first foray into using silver clay. I used wax seal stamps to impress the images, then dried, fired, polished and added patina before a final polish. I’m excited by the results. These little charms will probably end up on a journal. #silverclay #bookandpaperart
