As a public school teacher, I do not understand why a nation wide teacher walk out wasn’t called by our unions the minute the executive order was signed allowing ICE in schools.
We teach whoever is sent to us. We build relationships. We make it our business to make sure our students feel safe in our classrooms, because we know that an education is the most valuable gift they will ever receive. No teacher should be ok with ICE being allowed in schools.
