Speaking as a private individual who just happens to have an affiliation with the university, many on campus are desperately hoping for more clarity and a softer approach to these “prohibitions” — I can only speak for myself, but I feel no safer than I did before. In an interesting and tricky sleight of hand, the United States has long deemed any mixed-race person Black instead of white. The One Drop rule, and before that, racist/classist social norms meant anyone with any Black ancestry was also Black…

I hear a lot of NPR stories about science and arts, and a lot about the grant funding cuts, but I’d love to know when a story is about an advancement or event, etc., funded by a grant, and which institution it’s from. I think that connection is missing for many of us.

Please also consider…. Beef cattle and chickens for poultry (as opposed to eggs) are also susceptible to avian flu. When they start to cull those, or when ranchers go out to collect their cattle and find many have died, what will prices of beef and chicken do? How will McDonald’s and Wendy’s react?

Reducing the population this way means there are more resources to go round for those left, and you are rid of all the “nasty women” and “losers.” Elon’s still trying to save the planet. Donnie’s still trying to get richer. They’ve just decided killing us off is more efficient than helping us.

Because it’s the *wrong* people who will die, and reduce the world’s population. The ones they don’t like — the poor, sick, LGBTQ+, Black & Brown people, and women. The vulnerable and powerless people in “shithole countries.” People they want to control or, failing that, get rid of.
