Standing in the door, almost in a daze, Kelly Wright quickly grabbed her camera and took a picture. It was almost like a religious painting, seeing these brave heroes carry someone to safety.

After a moment, she remembered where she was and moved. "Come on, this way!" she shouted.

"No no no no no no no, don't you fucking die on me!" Klara said as she dove for María's body. She checked her pulse. "Her heart's still beating!"

"Grab her arms and legs!"

Klara and Johann grabbed her feet while Josh and Elrene Leydon locked their arms with her. Trip guided the group back.

Suddenly, the lights on the core faded, indicating it was in cold shutdown. "YES!" María shouted.

An explosion knocked her off her feet and she hit the ground.

"Klara, Josh, Ellie, Johann, with me!!" Trio shouted. They ran back in.

He saw one figure still in the room. It was María Socorro.

"Ensign!! Get out of there!!"

"I can shut down the core! Give me ten seconds!"

"MARÍA!!!"

She stood there at her console, seemingly oblivious to the explosions that were getting larger and more frequent.

One by one, the engineers fled the room, either on their own or being carried. Trip stood in the doorway. "Stewart! Grab all the fire gear that you can! We need masks and extinguishers!"

"On it, sir!"

Before closing the hatch, Trip looked around to make sure everyone was out.

Klara Hess took one final look at the display before abandoning her post. "Sir! Magnetic containment is fluctuating! We got to shut down the core!" A conduit exploded next to her, missing by inches.

"No time! Get out!"

She nodded and grabbed McKenna Kimball, whose arm was burned.

"Get him to sickbay!"

"Yes, sir!"

Trip ran back to the comm panel. "Tucker to the bridge! If you can hear me, I got coolant leaks all over the place! We're evacuating!" He took a look at the warp core. "Everybody out!"

Another explosion violently shook the ship. Trip looked up in time to see Michael Rostov in flames, next to a conduit that just erupted. He screamed in pain as Trip grabbed a fire extinguisher. Josh Masaro grabbed another and both quickly smothered the flames.

Just because he set it up doesn't mean he wants to be there. I set things up all the time that I would rather be doing something else.

I know his smile. That's the smile of someone who clearly doesn't want to be there.

Yes, we know. And Mamdani stood his ground against him. He talked like a statesman and Trump couldn't comprehend it.

I was honestly half expecting this meeting to end with Mamdani being arrested and deported.

Mamdani kept his cool, stayed focused on his mission, and Trump caved by turning up the charm.

Also, Mamdani did something amazing: he made Trump look weak. Trump is someone who dominates a room when people fear him. He did not give in, forcing Trump to overcompensate with the flattery.

For the record, I DID vote for Kamala. I was hoping she might apply pressure on Israel once she won. Mamdani saying he'll dissociate New York institutions from Israel is a lot different and better than Kamala refusing to say anything about discontinuing military aid.

There is actually no evidence that Hamas steals food from aid trucks apart from "Israel says so."

He condemned the genocide. Sometimes, that's just enough since as the incoming MAYOR, there's little practical power. It would be cool if he could arrest Bibi. We need more of that language.

There are no other groups. It's Israel which is terrorizing Gazans.
