A good group of people came out for the program on Bats of the Area, at Sheri Capehart Nature Preserve. Kate Rugroden of Bat World Sanctuary talked about their natural history and then as night fell, Ellen Ravkind and Anne Alderfer demonstrated some listening equipment that can identify them.

Led a couple of groups of kids on walks, together with another volunteer, finding this yellow and black garden spider among other things. I love how often somebody in that group asks a good question, revealing a real interest in nature.

Get these photos!

Meghan has made a number of the photos from "Mindfulness in Texas Nature available. You can buy them at wildcarrotphotography.darkroom.com, either framed, unframed, or on fine art canvas.

I'm proud of my writing for this book but I can't imagine it without the photos.

I write a Substack in which I talk about how kids and adults interact with and can benefit from nature. There is discussion of mindfulness and narratives about places and species. I hope you'll have a look. Mostly free, with a little encouragement of paid subscriptions if you'd like.

I'd love to see you at Wild Birds Unlimited in Keller, TX on December 14. It is a mindfulness talk and book event - I'll show lots of Meghan Cassidy's photos from the book and talk about mindfulness and the places we visited. I'll also have a few copies of the book.
