I also wanted to avoid the pirate game and ended up playing a times table Blooket game with my year 12s. Even better, I combined my class with my colleague’s year 7 class. What then followed was a team game, a battle royale and then crypto hack. All of the students loved it.

Next year I plan to keep the exercise books in my room to avoid them going missing.

I use folders for notes and classwork and then an exercise books for homework and topic tests (that way their marked work is all in one place). Some students manage it better than others. I normally trust them to keep them safe but a few exercise books have gone AWOL in the past.

I’ve never had to teach coursework (13th year of teaching), however I remember having to do it for my GCSEs and I would not want to see it reintroduced.
