It’s a wet and windy weekend ahead so maybe spend it watching some films. Rouge and Belen are now available to stream at home and I recommend both.

Watched documentaries on Werner Herzog and Faye Dunaway this week. Both were fine. I cried all the tears watching Homebound and I hope it gets UK distribution. I laughed till I cried at the ballbuster scene in Carnal Knowledge(a hugely depressing and honest film about men).

Last night I went to see Insane Asylum Seekers at Bush Theatre. It’s such a beautiful and personal take on the British-Iraqi refugee experience. Written by Laith Elzubaidi, this one man show stars Tommy Sim’aan who turns in a remarkable performance. www.bushtheatre.co.uk/event/insane...

Yesterday afternoon I went to see the new Lilo & Stitch for work and was definitely the oldest person in the room…then in the evening I went to see Miki Berenyi Trio for fun and was the youngest person there. Existential crisis begins…

The new Self Esteem album is out today and it’s outstanding. I wasn’t sure about a couple of the singles at first but A Complicated Woman is packed full of sharp humour and honesty. Cheers to Me is a cheeky banger…Short video by me from the live show 💙

Chuck Krantz just commented on one of my most depressing Letterboxd entries for The Life of Chuck…which tbf I did really enjoy so the sentiment is sweet at least 🫠🫠🫠

Death of a Unicorn: MVP is def Anthony Carrigan as a hard done by butler and then Will Poulter as a rich douchebag. Full review coming soon. First watch of High and Low: maybe my new favourite Kurosawa. Wow!Stephen Graham is magnificent in Adolescence. Mulholland Drive at the cinema boxd.it/9c8XBV
