My students had trouble remembering that “specie” is not the singular of “species”. I started telling them about my toddler begging for “cheese please? Please just one chee?” And the problem cleared right up (to my surprise, tbh)!

In spite of what I said I actually think it's important to remind people what's illegal. My point was many people are tired of being told something is illegal with some kind of unspoken inference of "So don't worry, he'll be stopped ". Which,as anyone can see, is quite often not the case.

I'm not a nihilist, but it is legitimately frustrating to hear people say "that's illegal" like it's some kind of magic phrase that will stop the problem. Yet here we are 8 mos later. I'm a strong believer in NEVER acquiescing or giving up hope, but I get why people do feel hopeless.
