If someone says they regret their vote for Trump and no longer support him or his policies, you don’t say “I told you so” you say “glad to have you on our side, are you willing to talk to your friends?”

I just think of the apocryphal Roman watching the barbarians swarm over the walls of the Eternal City knowing that everything they and their parents and grandparents had assumed about the world was over. And then realize unlike even the Romans, the barbarians are us. We did this to ourselves.
