I'm in the north of England, so definitely not tropical! The bay window must be perfect for it, like a little green house. We had a very wet summer this year and I think it enjoyed the humidity.

Yes, all I do here is close the curtains on it before I turn the living room lights on - the shortening days make it naturally turn red

One internet source says they definitely should die by the new year, another one says they can live up to 20 years(!) but will stay small if you keep it in the house. If it gets any bigger it won't fit in my house 🤷‍♀️

I don't understand why it didn't die after the first Christmas, I didn't do anything except carry on watering it.
