Everyone is making their own AI Action figures. Here’s mine …. Cecily and Gwen of Charnwood.

On this day in 2015, King Richard III was laid to rest with honour and dignity at Leicester Cathedral. A king reclaimed by time, restored to history, and forever remembered.

A few highlights from my 2024. It was fun. I wish you all a happy, safe and enjoyable New Year. 🥳

A nice walk on the last day of the year. My dog Gwen appreciated cooling her paws in the water as it was a warm morning.

✨ Christmas Eve and my #RichardIII decoration, along with his faithful boar, have taken pride of place upon the tree. 🎄

Merry Christmas to all my #Ricardian friends. ❤️

The best book of 2024 (in my humble opinion) … The King’s Mother by @anniegarthwaite

There’s still time to get a copy for Christmas, as a present for someone else, or to treat yourself! 📚

Two cheaply thrifted
t-shirts made into festive cushion covers. The bottom hem and arm holes were sewn up and the cushions inserted through the neck hole.
They’re fun! 👕🧵🎅🎄

What I thrifted, and how I’ve styled it.

Thrift score of the day.
I found this mid-century chrome magazine rack for under $3 Aus.

I did a reverse google image search and found one exactly the same for sale in the UK for £175 Pound Stirling (approx $341 Aus!). Either that’s massively overpriced or I got a very good deal.

St Kenelm’s at Minster Lovell has the most beautiful ceiling too. I was lucky enough to go there in July this year. It is definitely worth a visit if you get the chance.

I know it’s still November but I’ve been #thrifting for #thriftmas. I found this red lamp shade for the base of the tree 🎄, a silver-plate dish that I’ll style as a candle holder🕯️, and this beautiful vintage green glass vase that I’ll fill with lights to glow very prettily in the dark.

I’ve also thrifted this spice rack, sugar/tea tins, a hanging trinket display and a stack load of Christmas tableware and baubles. (There are lots more baubles out of shot).

Most of these items were less than $5 each. Some less than $3.

Thrifting keeps items like these items out of landfill. 👍🏼

Any fellow ‘thrifers’ out there?

My latest hobby is ‘thrifting’, (aka second hand shopping). My personal rules - all clothing must have original tags & max spend $10 per item. Some of my thrifts: this coloured glass bowl, an urn I’ve styled as a tissue holder, a ceramic bowl and some clothes.

Hi everyone! New to Blue Sky. I have a passion for medieval history and making stuff. Also thrifting vintage decor, ice hockey (Go Canucks Go!) and diving into books. Always up for chatting about history, hobbies, or creative ideas.
