Today is World Diabetes Day.

More than 800 million people have diabetes, most of whom live in low- and middle-income countries.

For people w/ type 1 diabetes, insulin is lifesaving, but it's often unavailable in low-resource and emergency settings and unaffordable elsewhere.

But it is often unavailable or unaffordable.

Ahead of World Diabetes Day tomorrow, we’re calling for affordable & available insulin pens for all.

🦠 It's estimated that by 2050, antibiotic resistance will cause 8.22 million deaths per year.
To try and combat this, MSF launched Antibiogo, a free diagnostic aid app to combat antibiotic resistance by improving access to patient diagnoses.

Fleeing home while managing #diabetes can mean losing reliable access to insulin which, in turn, risks severe health consequences, even death.

Ghassan undertook a long, difficult journey with a limited supply of insulin.

How did he manage his treatment?

Sana was using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) to monitor her blood sugar levels independently and discreetly.

However, war disrupted her access to free CGMs, so she switched to finger-prick devices which she's less comfortable with. As a result, Sana monitors less often.

Insulin pens must be affordable and available for all people with #diabetes who need them.

Why? For many people with diabetes, using pens to administer insulin is easier, more accurate, and preferred over more difficult-to-use vials and syringes.

Hey @novonordisk.bsky.social, all #insulin pens must be available at $1 per pen, so that everyone can access the highest standard of diabetes treatment, especially as their cost of production is estimated to be as low as $0.94 per pen, including a profit.
