MSF has repeatedly called for a sustained ceasefire to stop the overwhelming level of death and catastrophic injuries suffered by civilians. So far, we are witnessing the consequences of repeated violations of this ceasefire, which perpetuate the ongoing genocide in #Gaza.

Since the ceasefire began, Israeli forces have killed 211 people, according to the MoH. In the past 24 hours, the MoH reports that Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip have killed at least 104 people — incl. 46 children and 20 women — and injured 253 others, incl. 78 children.

In Nasser hospital, Ministry of Health (MoH) and MSF teams received 22 dead and 60 injured, including children. Al Aqsa hospital treated 77 injured, some of them were referred to MSF field hospital. Lastly, at MSF-supported Al Shifa, MoH teams received 27 dead and 56 injured.

Dr. Morten Rostrup, an MSF doctor at Al-Aqsa Hospital, said: “When I got to the emergency room, it was a desperate situation. There is no doubt this is an attack on civilians, with so many children being injured and killed. Do we really call this a ceasefire?"

We call on all governments and Israel to urgently scale up medical evacuations for thousands of patients unable to access care in Gaza. This must coincide with upholding the ceasefire and allowing immediate, unhindered humanitarian aid into Gaza.

“Some patients lose their lives before they get the chance to be evacuated. In the past, we’ve called to confirm evacuations from Gaza only to find the patients had already died. The health system has been destroyed. Needs are immense,” says Cyril Cappai, MSF country director.

Over 15,600 people – one in four of whom are children – are awaiting lifesaving medical evacuation from Gaza, according to the @who.int. Patients have complex trauma injuries caused by bullets and bombs, or life-threatening and chronic conditions such as cancer or kidney failure.
