So many things, but here are a few:

1) Witnessing students’ growth in self-confidence

2) Students using their voices/writing in impactful ways that inspire and make a difference not just in the classroom but outside the classroom as well

3) Having opportunity to be a champion for students!

It takes time, but it’s worth it! I usually write the same general message as it is at the start of the school year. I also include a QR code that when scanned, students and families can see a “Meet the Teacher” flyer in which they can learn a little bit more about me.

Already signed up! Not sure if I’ll be able to view it live, but know I’m cheering you on regardless! 👏🏻😀

When students share with me when they have extracurricular/sporting events, I do my very best to be there to cheer them on and support them! By showing interest in what students are passionate about, students notice that you care about them not just through words, but through actions as well.

When I found relevance and interest in the assignments I was given and even to the point where it didn’t seem like just another assignment. Also, the teachers that made me feel seen and that I mattered made a huge difference in my engagement and motivation as a student.

I’m wondering the same as I just joined Bluesky today and am searching for accounts to follow!

Give yourself grace! If lessons or other things don’t go as planned, don’t see those experiences as failures but rather opportunities for growth.
