I also think that if they heard what had happened before the skate to the face, especially at that time (1987), I don’t think Jane would be in the trouble that they depicted. Small town cops would have been like “yeah, don’t hit someone with a skate, but she kind of deserved it”

Yeah, and the DJ was in on it? As well as everyone else? There were people there over the age of 16/17 that had no connection to some 15 yr old mean girl - they wouldn’t just stand there and laugh. I did find the scene a bit much

It was overly extreme.

I admit I did not find it realistic in that I truly felt that in a public space that large with that many people someone would do something.

Maybe that was the lesson.

The entire business in the roller rink with an audience made no sense.

Nobody did anything. Not even Mike or Will, not really.

It's exactly how not to act when you see an entire room of people gang up on one person.
