Yep - I had one that was rolled up inside a padded envelope and that one was just fine. Had another one folded inside a padded envelope and those creases are never coming out :(

I don't think the bans (apart from Nadu, I guess) did much for casual - it was the addition of the bracket system that moved the needle there. cEDH got much worse after the bans.

The bans seem just as stupid in hindsight as they did on the day they were announced.

Take advantage of the fact that you now have a bracket system in place and unban the cards that were banned last year for being too powerful (eg. Mana Crypt, JLO, Dockside). They belong on the game changers list, sure, but there's no reason to keep them banned.

You kept mentioning the chance to pull a galaxy foil Ancient Tomb as the big chase card here (spoiler: he didn't), but you can't actually get galaxy foils in Play boosters.

That simply isn’t true. Pre-ban, we were in a turbo meta with rogsi & blue farm at the top of the heap. Look at the decks that played in the Topdeck invitational & open last year. The bans nuked the turbo meta, slowed down everything and pushed a crop of value mid-range decks towards the top.

That is categorically untrue.

But what problem in cEDH does banning this solve? We're in mid-range hell because WoTC banned the powerful cards that made the games go faster - feels nuts that the proposed solution to this should be "ban more powerful cards" instead of "give us back the cards we like to play with".

None of that is true. Your decks are lower tier cEDH decks - you shouldn't be playing these at casual tables.
